Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville, N.Y., has selected Proven Healthcare Solutions to provide admission review services for medical necessity.
The service will evaluate patients identified for admission to the hospital and determine whether they meet clinical criteria for admission, observation or discharge. This enables patients to be placed in the appropriate care setting with the right documentation the first time, helping hospitals comply with payers’ medical necessity review requirements – resulting in fewer denials.
The 24-bed rural hospital, which sees 75,000 patients annually, serves residents in Erie, Wyoming and Cattaraugus counties in New York. Affiliated with the Catholic Health system, Bertrand Chaffee Hospital consistently receives high patient satisfaction scores.
“Our partnership with Bertrand Chaffee Hospital highlights the flexibility of our solution,” explained Drew Caola, chief operating officer for Proven Healthcare Solutions. “Because clients can choose the level of coverage that works best for them, the service works for facilities of all sizes, from rural hospitals to large healthcare systems, and every size of facility in between.”
“We chose Proven Healthcare Solutions for our admission review needs because the company offers a cost-effective, quick-to-implement solution for reviewing our cases in real time,” said Nils Gunnersen, chief executive officer of Bertrand Chaffee Hospital. “Now we’re able to place patients in the correct care setting the first time.”
The service seamlessly integrates into the normal work flow of the emergency department. After an admission review is completed in real time at the point of service, immediate written feedback is provided to the hospital through the company’s cloud-based E-ARM™ application. The physician can see the outcome of the review, as well as the specific components of the criteria that were and were not met.
