Southside Hospital’s Anthony Pellicone explaining his career path to Islip High School students.
Islip High School students got the opportunity to interact with Southside Hospital and Northwell Health employees from myriad careers during the school’s Medical Career Day on October 27.

There were 30 different tables throughout the school’s gym where healthcare professionals were available to answer questions and provide information about their career paths as well as 18 presentations in the Islip High School choral room and auditorium. Anthony Pellicone, MBA, associate executive director at Southside Hospital, spoke to the students about non-clinical healthcare careers.

“For students to best determine their future career path, they need to know about as many of the options available to them as they can,” Mr. Pellicone said. “I appreciate the opportunity to speak with these students and I hope my presentation helped inspire them.”

Northwell Health’s community relations team has been organizing Medical Career Days for the last year, including an upcoming one at Brentwood High School. For more information about Medical Career Days or to bring this program to your school, call Matthew DePace at 516-465-8358.
