Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey Welcomes New Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Matthew Schreiber

Matthew Schreiber, M.D., has been named Chief Clinical Officer of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. Dr. Schreiber will work closely with Newark Beth Israel Department Chairs, Medical Staff Officers and the hospital’s Patient Safety Officer to ensure that providing high quality, safe patient care, and an excellent patient experience remain a hallmark of daily operations at Newark Beth Israel.

“In recent years, we have made great improvements in quality and patient safety and Dr. Schreiber’s passion for and wealth of experience in these areas, make him an excellent fit for our organization,” said Darrell K. Terry, Sr., President and CEO of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey.

“I am passionate about access to high quality, reliable patient care that is delivered in an effective and satisfying way to the many communities we serve,” said Dr. Schreiber. “I am thrilled to contribute to the exceptional team of leaders at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.”

Dr. Schreiber comes to Newark Beth Israel from Spectrum Health System, the largest not-for-profit health care system in West Michigan, where he served as Vice President of Operations for the Acute Health Service Line. Prior to that, he held several progressive leadership positions including, VP for Hospital Quality and System Safety at Spectrum Health, and Chief Medical Officer at Piedmont Hospital. Dr. Schreiber is an accomplished physician leader with a solid background in quality, safety, performance improvement and operations.

Dr. Schreiber received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from the New York State Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv. He is an internal medicine physician.

His appointment to the senior management team at Newark Beth Israel concludes a complete revamp of the hospital’s C-Suite within the last year, which now includes: president and CEO, Darrell K. Terry, Sr., MHA, MPH FACHE; chief operating officer Douglas A. Zehner, CPA, MSHA; chief financial officer Nikolas Alexiades; Chief Patient Safety and Quality Officer Dr. Jennifer LaRosa, MD, FCCM, FCCP; Interim Chief Nursing Officer, Amy Doran, RN, MS, APRN-BC; and chief human resources officer Zachary Lipner, MA, SPHR.
