NewYork-Presbyterian announced a series of community events available to the public for the month of December. From a holiday cooking class, to a special holiday reception for people living with cancer and their care givers, there are events offered throughout NewYork-Presbyterian’s campuses in Westchester. All offerings are free unless otherwise noted.

Physician in the Kitchen: Comfort Feeding Program
Tuesday, December 5¦5:00 to 7:00 PM
Comfort Feeding is a process that involves techniques and strategies for caring for persons with swallowing difficulty. Learn how to feed the person you are caring for in a safe, nurturing way from Bruce H. Heckman, MD, MPH, an internist with ColumbiaDoctors, the faculty practice of Columbia University Medical Center, who is board certified in Hospice and Palliative Care; Carol Bancel, RD; and Chef Emilie Berner.

Breastfeed with Certainty Prenatal Class

The Breastfeed with Certainty Prenatal Class provides an opportunity for pregnant women and their partner or support person to learn about breastfeeding. The group is facilitated by Sonia Mathisson, IBCLC, MS, RD. Topics include: latching and positioning, benefits of skin-to-skin, how to make sure baby is getting enough milk, partner’s role and community resources.
