Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy, NuHealth President/CEO Arthur A. Gianelli , Board of Directors Frank Saracino, PhD, Steven J. Walerstein, MD, FACP, executive vice president for medical affairs and medical director, and Lyn Weiss, MD, chair, addressed staff and toured the newly renovated 25 bed inpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation floor at NUMC. The unit was designed to meet the unique needs of stroke and brain injury patients, those recovering from disease, injury or accident, and other disabling events. Returning these patients to optimal functioning takes the combined work of a team of specialized professionals. Congresswoman McCarthy joined Dr. Weiss and the staff during a ribbon cutting ceremony near the nursing station of the unit.
“We are delighted and honored that Congresswoman McCarthy has joined with us today as we celebrate the opening of the newly renovated unit as NUMC has always worked to be at the cutting edge of quality care. We now have specially designed areas to treat brain injured patients, as well as totally renovated physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapy areas. These services provide ongoing recovery options for patients with specialized staff dedicated to getting back patients’ lives in order after serious illness or injury,” stated Mr. Gianelli during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
