Helen Hayes Hospital Hosts Advanced Vestibular Rehab Course With Dr. Richard Clendaniel

Helen Hayes Hospital will welcome Dr. Richard Clendaniel, PT, PhD November 11-12, 2017 to present the course “Vestibular Rehab – Advanced.” Designed for physical and occupational therapists with prior clinical vestibular rehabilitation experience, the course will focus on the assessment and treatment of patients with vertigo and disequilibrium from unusual vestibular causes.

Material covered in the two-day course will include advanced techniques for treating anterior and horizontal canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, central causes of dizziness and the identification and treatment of cervicogenic dizziness, chronic subjective dizziness, migraine and other unusual vestibular disorders. Course participants must have prior coursework in vestibular rehabilitation and experience treating patients with vestibular disorders to participate in the course.

Dr. Richard Clendaniel has lectured both nationally and internationally on the evaluation and treatment of individuals with dizziness and imbalance. He is a professor at Duke’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program and a member of the adjunct faculty in the Doctor of Audiology program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Clendaniel also maintains an active clinical practice for individuals with vestibular, cervical spine and other disorders, is the co-editor of a major textbook on vestibular rehabilitation and has had papers published in numerous publications.
