The Hackensack Regional Chamber of Commerce held its annual Gala recently at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack. The Chamber recognized two members of the community who have made an impact on the public through business and volunteer work. Ihor S. Sawczuk, M.D., FACS, president of Hackensack University Medical Center, and Julia Orlando, director of Bergen County Housing and Human Health Services Center, were honored. Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center is pleased to announce that Ihor S. Sawczuk, M.D., FACS, president of Hackensack University Medical Center, has been honored by the Hackensack Regional Chamber of Commerce at its Gala 2017 -- A Night of Hope.

“I am humbled by this meaningful recognition,” said Dr. Sawczuk, who shared the honor with Julia Orlando, director of the Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center. “I am proud to join with the Chamber and Ms. Orlando, as we work to provide the very best for our community.”

The Hackensack Regional Chamber of Commerce, which has been serving the community since 1933, is involved in a variety of programs to support the well-being of the business community, the city and the surrounding area. It is a voluntary group of business and professional people dedicated to promoting civic, business and community success.

“I am delighted to congratulate Dr. Sawczuk on this well-deserved recognition,” said Robert C. Garrett, co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. “He fully embodies the essential leadership qualities that motivate and inspire our team members to provide the highest quality, human-centered care.”

At this event annually, the Chamber recognizes two members of the community who have made an impact on the public through business and volunteer work. This year’s theme was A Night of Hope.

“Dr. Sawczuk brings hope to so many through the innovative approach that Hackensack Meridian Health brings to health care every day,” said Lauren Zisa Samulka, executive director of the Hackensack Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Hackensack University Medical Center is an excellent partner for our business community and the greater Hackensack community in so many ways.”
The gala event celebrating the contributions of Dr. Sawczuk and Ms. Orlando was held at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack on September 28.
