Gabriel Kaplan, MD, Named Medical Director for Behavioral Health Services at Bergen Regional Medical Center

Gabriel Kaplan, MD, has been appointed Medical Director for Behavioral Health Services at Bergen Regional Medical Center (BRMC). As Medical Director, Dr. Kaplan will oversee Bergen Regional’s comprehensive inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment programs for children, adolescents, adults and older adults.

“Dr. Kaplan is a highly accomplished psychiatrist who brings more than two decades of clinical and managerial experience to Bergen Regional and we are pleased to welcome him to our team,” said BRMC President Joseph Orlando, FACHE.

Prior to joining Bergen Regional, Dr. Kaplan was the Executive Director for Behavior Health at Hoboken University Medical Center where he headed the hospital’s behavioral health system and its quality improvement and business development programs.

In addition to his new role at Bergen Regional, Dr. Kaplan is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is also an advisor to the New Jersey Department of Children and Families Policy Advisory Group on Psychotropic Medication and the President and Co-Founder of The New Alliance Academy, special education schools, with locations in Paramus and Parsippany.

Dr. Kaplan received his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine in Argentina and completed a psychiatric residency and child fellowship at New York Hospital – Cornel Medical Center in New York. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is board certified in general psychiatry and child psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
