Visiting Nurse Services (VNS) of Connecticut, one of the state’s largest home health care agencies, has been awarded a $62,316 grant from the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority as part of its Not-for-Profit Grant Program.
VNS will use the grant money to underwrite some of the cost of providing home health care services for needy residents of Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties under its Medically Underserved Program. Ensuring access to high quality home health services for everyone in its service area is the chief mission of the nonprofit, safety net provider.
During 2011, some 1,866 patients qualified for skilled nursing, therapy, social work, home health aide and other services under the program at a cost to the agency of nearly $2.7 million.
